November 15-19, 2021, York University joins education institutions from more than 100 countries around the world in celebrating International Education Week (IEW). IEW is an annual celebration of international education and exchange worldwide that highlights the importance of international education, promotes the benefits of education abroad and exchanges and recognizes the contributions of international students in strengthening international and intercultural understanding.

York-IEW activities include promotional activities and events organized throughout the week to recognize international students, education abroad, and global engagement.

International Seminar Series: Peripheral Centralities – Politics, Policy and Practice

Hosted by Professor Nicholas Phelps (University of Melbourne), Paul J. Maginn (University of Western Australia) and Professor Roger Keil (York University), the seminar series Peripheral Centralities: Lost, Past, Present and Future brings together a multidisciplinary mix of scholars and practitioners, including urban historians, sociologists, geographers, planners, architects, urban designers, and property developers to consider the meaning, form, dynamics and significance of peripheral centralities within an era of global extended urbanization.

Launch of Sustainable and Inclusive Internationalization Conference 2021 Publication 

York University and partners are excited to invite you to the Launch of the Sustainable and Inclusive Internationalization Conference 2021 Publication on 16 November 2021. The publication will share insights and reflections of the 3-day conference which hosted over 500 participants from 58 different countries, engaged in expert panels and plenary sessions, cultural contributions and poster presentations. Join the launch event to learn more about the Sustainable on the Go Initiative and its impact, and how to get involved in 2022.

Applying for a Post-Graduate Work Permit 

The PGWP is an excellent opportunity for international students to get Canadian work experience after they graduate. Use this work experience to enhance your career goals and help you get the experience you may need to apply for permanent residency.

In this webinar, your International Student Advisors will take you through the application process and help you get your documents together so that you can submit a strong application, especially with the service changes in effect due to COVID-19. We will also briefly discuss some common pathways to permanent residence so you can choose jobs that will put you on the right path.

Through dramatizations and interviews, award-winning author, poet, and podcast host Rosanna Deerchild (Cree) guides us through the heroes, battles, triumphs, and traditions which live outside and beyond the national imaginary that we have come to know through our schools and the curriculum. Each week, we will move through one chapter (if you’re a fan of graphic novels)/episode (for podcast lovers) of “THIS PLACE: 150 YEARS RETOLD” followed by a facilitated discussion. Hosted by Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador), this workshop a space that invites students from different parts of the world and from different academic areas to connect and reflect on the specific challenges they face in their current student context and that have repercussions on their future professional lives. Through dialogues and workshops, moderated by enthusiastic USFQ professionals, students of Dentistry, Medicine and the Humanities (Literature, Philosophy and Art History) will cultivate a global vision.

UNHack is a community event for all undergrad post-secondary and Grade 11 & 12 high school students to come together for an unforgettable weekend to try and solve some of the world’s greatest challenges.
You will take part in an experiential learning opportunity with the Lassonde School of Engineering BEST Program at York University, which will help you learn how you can solve some of the most important challenges facing our world.Over the weekend, you will work to solve global challenges along with your team by following our structured design sprint methodology. We will share examples of how faculty across our campuses are embedding the SDG's, in some way, into their classrooms, and begin to discuss how a Community-of-Practice might look here at York.
