Whether or not you are a new international student, the Ontario healthcare system can be hard to navigate. This webinar offers you the chance to optimize your actions to care for yourself and your family with UHIP. It is also open to international students with OHIP coverage.
By the end of this session, you will:
- Understand the structure of the Ontario healthcare system: Learn how the system came to be, how its structure compares to that of some other countries in the world, and when to visit what kind of medical establishment.
- Navigate cultural differences: Learn the role of a patient before, during and after a visit with a doctor. Learn what kinds of questions a doctor may ask during a medical visit.
- Understand your rights as a patient: Learn about your medical privacy, expectations for proper and safe care, and when to seek a second medical opinion.
- Be aware of support services that may be available at your medical clinic: Including accommodations during a medical visit and services in your maternal language.
- Use resources to find a doctor: See a demo of online resources to support your healthcare navigation.
At the end of the session, participants will have the chance to ask questions in a large group setting.

Ce webinaire vous offre la possibilité d'optimiser vos actions pour prendre soin de vous et de votre famille avec le RAMU. Il est également ouvert aux étudiants internationaux couverts par l'Assurance-santé de l'Ontario.
À la fin de cette séance, vous :

- Comprendrez vos droits en tant que patient.e : Renseignez-vous sur votre confidentialité médicale, les attentes en matière de soins appropriés et sûrs, et sur le moment de demander un deuxième avis médical.
- Serez au courant des services d'appui qui peuvent être disponibles dans votre clinique médicale : y compris les aménagements pendant une visite médicale et les services dans votre langue maternelle.
- Utiliserez des ressources pour trouver un médecin : On vous démontrera les ressources en ligne pour vous aider à mieux naviguer le système des soins de santé.
