Study at one of YorkU's global partners for 2-6 weeks during the summer. Programs take place between May-August each year and provide students with the opportunity to explore a new city/country, experience a different culture, and earn credits towards their degree.

Summer programs are rich with experiential learning activities that make the most of your time away. Step outside of your comfort zone! Learn a new language. Try a new cuisine. The world is your classroom!

  • Courses range from 2-6 weeks in duration.
  • All students registered and selected to go on Summer Abroad programs are eligible for York International Mobility Award (YIMA). Visit our funding page for more information.
  • Completed at least 18 credits at YorkU at the time of application.

FLAME Summer School

The FLAME Summer School provides students an opportunity to experience the liberal education ethos of FLAME University, which values and incorporates an interdisciplinary pedagogy. Courses are offered across disciplines in a variety of fields. The courses will be taught by FLAME faculty and will be delivered in person.

Socio-cultural History of Pune: An Immersive Experience

This course acquaint the students with a city and region that has not only endured but grown by leaps and bounds and enriched thousands through its long course of existence. : The course will give an overview of both Pune city and district which have been much-coveted by rulers and power-brokers down the ages for several reasons, thereby leading to its transition from a small riverside settlement to the very seat of political power and its modern-day avatar as an educational, industrial and cultural hub of international standing. The course will aim to link the immediate and ancient past to the present and the future, to connect the dots and show how and why history has a closer connect with their day-to-day lives than they would imagine. From the Stone Age to present day, the history of Pune and Maharashtra shows us how deep indeed our roots go and how high and diverse do the shoots grow.

Overview:

GSP 2025 offers three specialised tracks with over 20 courses designed to provide valuable knowledge and skills:

Participants will gain valuable insights through interactive lessons, engaging guest speakers, company visits, and field trips, offering real-world perspectives in their fields of study. The GSP also encourages cross-cultural exchange, enabling participants to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds and immerse themselves in Singapore’s vibrant culture while enhancing both their academic and professional development.

Participants can choose up to two courses from any track, provided there are no timetable conflicts.

Eligibility:

The GSP is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Documents required during submission of application:

  • Student’s latest academic transcript.
  • If English is not the primary language of instruction at your institution, students must provide their IELTS or TOEFL test results (minimum score: 6.5 for IELTS or 90 for TOEFL iBT), taken within two years of the application date.*

*If students do not have IELTS or TOEFL scores, they can submit a letter from their home university coordinator verifying their proficiency in English. This letter will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Fudan University, China

Fudan International Summer School (FISS)

Date: June 30 2025 to July 25 2025

Delivery: Hybrid; In-person and online

Fudan International Summer Session (FISS) is a 4-week English-taught course study program held each summer for college students from all over the world. It helps students achieve multicultural understanding, establish a global vision, and get connected with peers from all over the world.​​ Fudan University's degree students will also participate in the program. ​​So students will have the opportunity to get to know China and become part of the Fudan community.

Content courses cover a variety of topics, including Business and Economy, History and Culture, Science and Technology, Society and Politics, and Law. In addition, PE courses such as Chinese Kungfu and Chinese Folk Dance, and different levels of Chinese language courses are also provided.

Apart from the courses, various extracurricular and social activities, such as city exploration, company visits, Chinese painting, Chinese folk dance, Thai Chi, and Chinese ceramic art, are also arranged for students to experience the Chinese culture and the wonders of Shanghai, and get connected with each other who are all brilliant young people from both China and abroad.

After successful completion of the course study, students will be awarded a program certificate and an official transcript from Fudan University.

Eligibility:

  1. College students above 18 years of age with sufficient English proficiency.
  2. The general state of the applicant's health should be good enough for him/her to pursue the course of study.

Peking University Chinese Language Summer School (PKUCLSS):

Founded in the 1980s, Peking University Chinese Language Summer School (PKUCLSS) has always been committed to providing opportunities for international students and friends to study at PKU, learn Chinese, and discover China.

PKUCLSS will also take students on a journey to explore China: converse with renowned scholars, walk into the Forbidden City, visit tech companies, discover the miraculous story of the Saihanba Desert turning into an oasis, take in the vast natural scenery of the Inner Mongolia prairie and more!

International Summer Exchange Program (ISP)

Duration: 17 June to 10 August 2024

The program aims to create a rewarding exchange experience for students from around the world. It comprises high-quality courses taught by regular HKUST instructors and opportunities to participate in local excursions that enable students to gain insight into the region.

Course Information: Summer Term courses are offered by the School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Business and Management, School of Humanities and Social Science, and Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies.

Accommodation: All students will be provided with University housing. Students will be assigned to a double room (or a triple room with double occupation) in a student hall for the whole program duration.

Participants will choose 2 from 14 courses such as literature and art, business, culture, economics, history, politics and sociology in the context of Japan and Asia pacific, and can earn 4 credits. The classes are taught in English by the experienced faculty members. We will also organize extracurricular activities such as field trips, site visits and cultural events to experience Tokyo and Japan!

Short-Term Japanese Language Program: 

Meiji University, celebrating its 143rd anniversary in 2024, is a comprehensive university which has received high reputation from home and abroad as one of the "Tokyo Six Universities". Currently, more than 33,000 students, including approximately 1,800 international students, study at the university’s ten faculties. ​

The Japanese Language Education Center will offer a 2-week short-term Japanese language program in July 2024. This program includes not only Japanese language study, but also project work, exchange activities with Meiji University students, Japanese cultural experiences and interaction with senior international students. The program is designed to not only allows you to experience real Japanese and Japan, but also to interact with international students from many countries and providing an opportunity to broaden your perspective.

Hanyang University's Science & Engineering Scholarship Program, South Korea

Overview:

The main objective of the program is to foster world-class scholars in the science & engineering field.
The recipients of the SESP scholarship will study as undergraduate exchange students at HYU ERICA for one year and will receive a monthly stipend to cover their living expenses.
Furthermore, should they choose to enroll in our integrated master's and doctoral program as graduate students afterward, they will be eligible for a full scholarship as well as a monthly stipend to support their living expenses.

This prestigious program is designed for undergraduate students in their 3rd and 4th years, providing a pathway to pursue combined Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in various fields of science and engineering.

Chulalongkorn University is delighted to host 2024 Chula Joint Summer Camp – Connecting Asia for a Sustainable Future, the All-in-One Summer Camp in Thailand, Hong Kong, and Japan.

The Joint Summer Camp will offer a unique opportunity to obtain hands-on learning experience at three esteemed higher institutions – Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, The University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, and Hokkaido University, Japan.

The Camp will provide an understanding foundation and overview of various issues related to sustainability, especially in the fields of Industry 4.0, Sustainability and Circular Economy, and One Health. Additionally, students participating in the camp will have a chance to develop their willingness to communicate with other students with diverse national and cultural backgrounds and discuss how to tackle issues related to sustainability.

Leeds International Summer School (LISS)

Dates: July (students can join the programme for two or four weeks)

Delivery: In-person

Study at the University of Leeds, one of the world’s top 100 universities, and immerse yourself in the vibrant city of Leeds. Join the two or four-week LISS program. Choose from a diverse range of academic modules, meet interesting people from around the world, and immerse yourself in British culture and society. Earn credit and choose courses from a wide range of subject areas including Arts and Humanities, Business, Engineering, Science and Social Sciences.

  • Field trips with every module: Each module usually includes at least one field trip to support what you’ve learned in the classroom and give you insights into British culture, history, and society.
  • Cultural excursions and social events: LISS has a busy social program to help you make the most of your time in Leeds and the UK. The program fee includes orientation activities, a farewell social, and one full-day excursion per block.

English Language, British Culture and Intercultural Skills Summer School

For adults aged 18+, our programme is designed for participants to improve their English language, intercultural competency and soft skills through interactive lessons, workshops and project work. Participants are immersed in British Culture through a rich schedule of visits and trips in the historic city of York and beyond.

The Ontario/Rhône-Alpes Student Exchange Program offers Ontario students the opportunity to participate in a Summer Language Program at l’Université Jean Monnet in Saint-Étienne (CILEC), at l’Université Lumière Lyon 2 (CIEF) or at l’Université Savoie Mont Blanc (ACCENTS).

The ORA Summer Language Program is a four to six week program in which students from around the world study French and learn about French culture. It offers a unique, excellent and highly enjoyable learning experience in the classroom, with extracurricular activities as well as excursions to places of interest in the region.

There is no French-language prerequisite for successful participation in the Summer Language Program. Classes are offered at various levels, including beginners’ level. Placement is determined by a written online test and an oral interview. Successful applicants are eligible for scholarship support.

OBW International Lake Constance Summer School, Germany

The OBW Lake Constance Summer School is a four-week summer program in August, in which students from around the world come together to study German and learn about German culture. The summer school is offered to eligible Ontario students thanks to a special agreement between the OBW Student Exchange Program and the Universität Konstanz.

There is no German-language prerequisite for successful participation in the Lake Constance Summer School. Classes are offered at all levels of German. Students from participating Ontario universities may apply who intend either:

    • to participate in the summer school as a stand-alone experience and then return to their studies in Ontario

; or

  • to participate in the summer school in preparation for a longer stay in Baden-Württemberg as a student in the “traditional” OBW student exchange.

Students who wish to have the credit transferred to their academic record in Ontario should seek advice from their home university’s International Student Exchange Office and/or their academic counselors. Successful completion of the language course is documented with a transcript showing 6 ECTS credits.

The Summer School takes place at the University of Konstanz, in Germany, from where the OBW program is coordinated on the Baden-Württemberg side, and where many Ontario students since 1990 have spent a wonderful exchange year.

ICAI-SAPIENS is a program that was designed for engineering and other STEM students in 2013 and has been growing ever since. Students, especially from the US, gain international experience without delaying their graduation, given that the vast majority of these courses are what they require for their curriculum.

We offer several categories of courses in our ICAI-SAPIENS, all of which are taught in English:

  • Fundamental Engineering/STEM: these are meant to be similar/identical to their equivalent subjects in a standard US Sophomore/Junior year.
  • Culture, Language & Humanities: these provide an insight into the Spanish language and culture, and include guided visits to several local landmarks.

 International Sports Law: Legal Challenges in the Fight Against Doping

This on-campus Summer School offers unique insights into the legal context in which international sports organizations currently operate as well as into the limits of their autonomy. Participants will also expolore the relevance of state law, more particularly of criminal law in sports-related matters. The focus is on one of the most heavily regulated matters in organised sport, namely the fight against doping.
The course will examine in particular the history of anti-doping, the stakeholders involved in anti-doping, the legislative and procedural framework of the sports organisations in the fight against doping, the role and the functioning of criminal and international law related to anti-doping and interdisciplinary aspects of anti-doping.

University of Galway, International Summer School

Each year the University welcomes over 300 hundred summer school students with an interest in Irish Studies, Education in Ireland, Irish Language, Ecology, Business and International Management, English Language, Ecology, Archaeology and Geology.

The Summer School courses on offer will bring you a rich and diverse perspective of the subject area, and are taught by expert lecturers and educational professionals who have a vast range of knowledge of their subject matter.

Educational field trips are an integral part of the summer school courses and will provide you with an opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge of your specialism to its fullest extent. During your stay, you will also have time to explore Galway City and many other parts of Ireland which are within easy reach of the region.

Dates: June 15th, - July 11th, 2025

Course Curriculum: Select two courses from the seven courses on offer. The curriculum includes outline of lecture topics, reading lists and assessment requirements. Each course is worth 3 Semester Credits/6 ECTS Credits. Courses delivered each year depend on demand.

  • Literature and Film & Creative Writing: Visit to Literary and Historical Sites in Co. Clare & South Galway
  • Archaeology:  2 fieldtrips to the Burren (in Historic Period)
  • History: Debate off-campus in historic venue
  • Creative Writing: Participation in Galway Literary Events
  • Gaelic Literature & Culture:  Cultural trip to museum in Galway
  • Irish Society: Cultural walking tour of Galway City Centre
  • Economic Policy: Trip to Dublin to meet key policy advisors and analysts
  • Art in Ireland: Trip to Dublin to National Museum and Book of Kells
  • Irish Music and Dance: immersed in music and dance of Ireland

Excursions (all students): Day trip to Aran Islands, Day trip to Aillwee Caves & Cliffs of Moher, Day trip to Irish Workhouse & Clonmacnoise

Course Curriculum: Specialist courses in Economic Policy in Ireland and International Cross-cultural management, providing students with a multidisciplinary approach to studying business and developing the skills to work within an international business setting. Each course is worth 3 Semester Credits/6 ECTS Credits per course. 

Field Trips:

  • Dublin to meet key policy advisors and analysts.  

Social events: Opening reception,  Independence Day Barbecue and Farewell Reception.

Dates: June 15th, - July 04th, 2025

Entry Requirements: Undergraduate students should have completed at least one full year at university or college level before being admitted to the programme and are undertaking any Ecology, Environmental Science, Geography, Botany, Zoology, Natural History or Natural Heritage course. Students should also have attained a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Postgraduate students with an interest in the subject area are also welcome to apply. They will have an extra assignment to complete to obtain the course credits. Students should have a reasonable level of fitness and be prepared for field trips most days on the course. This may involve short hikes over trails and uneven surfaces.  

Course Curriculum: Specialist courses in Economic Policy in Ireland and International Cross-cultural management, providing students with a multidisciplinary approach to studying business and developing the skills to work within an international business setting. Each course is worth 3 Semester Credits/6 ECTS Credits per course. 

Field Trips: Each week students undertake field trips (i.e., 2-3 days, per week), which facilitate contact with the Irish countryside, habitats, flora, fauna, and Irish conservation practitioners.  

Assessment:  Course is assessed in the form of oral presentations and learning journals.  The course is highly practical and provides an opportunity for students to develop hands-on fieldwork skills.
