Before You Leave
- Register for ArriveCAN and submit your travel information before your arrival in Canada
- Check for the latest requirements for transiting through other countries or arriving in Canada
- Confirm your flight details with your airline(s)
- Confirm your luggage meets your airline’s size/weight requirements
- Double-check what should go in your carry-on or checked baggage
- Consult latest customs regulations and ensure you are compliant
- If you are living in residence: make sure you have a residence move-in date/time confirmed that coincides with your arrival date/time
- Familiarize yourself with COVID-19 protocols and regulations
- Request quarantine support from York by submitting the Travel to Canada form (minimum 2 weeks in advance)
- International students - make sure you receive your Entry Support Letter
- Undergraduate – Received via email once your Travel to Canada/Quarantine Request Form is submitted

While Travelling
- Keep your passport, boarding pass, and any important documents safe
- Allot enough time at the airport for check-in and security
- Monitor your luggage and personal items closely and do not leave them unattended
- Follow all personal protection equipment (PPE) rules/guidelines
Once You Are Home
- Follow COVID-19 requirements as instructed upon entry
- Check that your basic health insurance is valid
- Ensure you file any health insurance claims within the company’s deadlines
- Fill out any remaining paperwork related to your travel (e.g., transcripts, transfer credits, etc.)
- If you are feeling unwell, update your healthcare provider on your recent travel
- Monitor yourself for signs of reverse culture shock and seek out support as needed
- Look into getting your 3rd COVID vaccine (If not done already)
Before Coming To Campus
- Bring/wear a mask as they are mandatory in all indoor spaces at York University
- Be sure you have logged into YU Screen and uploaded your proof of vaccination
- Complete the YU Screen daily before coming to campus
- Monitor yourself for symptoms of COVID-19. Do not visit campus if you are feeling unwell, or have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
- Report any symptoms of COVID-19 using YU Screen
