Course Overview
Through this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate accountability to the public by practicing in accordance with professional standards of nursing practice and the current entry-level competencies for Registered Nurses of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Enhance health and healing in individuals, families, groups and/or communities/populations in a variety of traditional and non-traditional settings through synthesizing knowledge from nursing and other disciplines to guide assessments, care and health promotion.
- Demonstrate praxis, in incorporating multiple ways of knowing, evidence- informed care, and critical-reflective practice in the humanization of health care.
- Exemplify personal and professional growth through application of skills for lifelong learning.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with nursing colleagues, inter- professional team members, and clients/communities.
- Demonstrate leadership for the advancement of the nursing professional areas of practice.
- Advocate for and support healthy organizational and public policy to promote health of individuals, families, groups, communities and/or global populations.
- Provide culturally sensitive nursing care that honours human dignity, diversity, and different ways of being.
Program Highlights

- Students to attend practicum at Mansa Memorial Hospital under direct supervision of Registered Nurses. This compliments academic material through achieving course outcomes of enhancing health of individuals and families, delivering evidence-based care, collaboration, leadership, and advocacy.
- Students to attend Community Outreach (schools, homes, community sites) with practicing Community-based Registered Nurses; this compliments material through achieving course outcomes including enhancing health of communities and groups in non-traditional settings.
- Students to attend observatory days with interdisciplinary team members in government hospitals, allowing them to directly observe similarities and differences within health systems and compliment academic material as students work collaboratively with the interprofessional team and learn organizational and public policy.

Deposits and Payment Deadlines
To secure a spot in this course, you'll need to submit a non-refundable deposit of $500 to York International. If selected, you will receive an email with instructions to pay your CAD500 deposit and program fee before the deadline.
A $500 non-refundable deposit per course must be submitted by the deadline listed in the email. These fees are non-refundable once charged and are taken as a commitment that the student will participate in the study abroad course. All courses are capped, and spots are considered based on the course instructor’s decision.
PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to come to York International Office. All payments will be conducted online. We only accept Visa and Mastercard. No cash or cheques.
