Tax Filing for International Students!
As an international student in Canada, you can file your taxes or take advantage of certain tax credits. North York Community House (NYCH) will offer on-campus tax filing for international students:
Tax Filing Individual Appointments for International Students
Date & Time: March 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 2020 from 9:30am-4:00pm (20 minute slots)
Location: 242 York Lanes

***There are limited seats available, if you miss your appointment, we will not be able to accommodate a reschedule.

What to bring to the Filing Tax Appointment:
- Two pieces of government issued photo ID (Passports, drivers licence, etc.)
- SIN number
- Tax information slips such as T4 (if you worked in 2019), T2202A (Tuition fees paid), any other tax slips *Tax slips related to YorkU can be found here.
- Rent receipts or letter from landlord stating amount of rent paid in 2019
- 2018 CRA notice of assessment (you would have received this from the CRA if you filed returns in 2018)
Important Note: If a student worked in 2019, the individual annual income limit is $35,000 ($45,000 for a couple) in order to avail of this free service. NYCH is not authorized to file income tax returns for those who earned business income or contract income.
Tax Filing Information Session
If you would like to know more information, what to bring, etc. Please register for the Tax Filing Information Session where representatives from the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) will be presenting on Mon. Mar. 23, 2020 from 1-3pm. There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the presentation.
