Lions, it is YOU!
During our consultation with York’s community on our Internationalization and Global Engagement Strategy (2020-2025), student mobility was identified as a priority area. The York community echoed the international mobility literature in identifying the benefits of international mobility programs including adaptability, problem-solving, resilience and intercultural proficiency, employability, engagement in global issues and strong international networks. International and global learning programs are transformational experiences for young adults. At the same time, the York community identified sustainability and combating the climate crisis as critical values and rationales that should shape York’s global engagement. “Sustainable on the Go” is inspired by these two goals.
Our community expressed desire to be part of a global change by going beyond acknowledging challenges to working actively on finding solutions. Among the many global challenges identified, sustainability was perceived to be key to shaping our international and global engagement. York has a lot to offer in terms of research, capacity building, knowledge mobilization, educational pedagogy and community service knowledge and expertise to help make a difference worldwide.
