Lost or Stolen Passports

We recommend that all international students keep copies of their personal IDs and immigration documents in a safe place, or share copies with family members just in case these documents are lost or stolen. In case of lost or stolen of passport and study permit, international students should complete the following steps:
1.
Report to the nearest Police Station of the lost or stolen passport, and keep a Police Report number or any documents provided by the Police Station as reference.

2.

Contact the nearest consulate or embassy of your country  for instruction of replacement of your passport. (Please note that your passport is no longer valid for travel after you report it lost or stolen, even you find your lost passport later.)

3.

If your study permit is lost together with your passport, you should submit a replacement of study permit for a fee (CAD$30) upon receiving your new passport. Please ensure that you include a Police Report number and an explanation of the replacement request. You may continue studying and/or working while your documents are being replaced.

4.

You can apply for a new TRV after replacing your passport and study permit, if you require a visa to enter Canada. Please ensure that you include a Police Report number and an explanation of the replacement request.
