Meet the ISSS Team

Diana Ning

Associate Director, International Student and Scholar Services

Diana Ning is the Associate Director, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at York International. She manages the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) team and ensures the overall support to over 6,000 international students at York University. As a Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) and a member of the CBIE Immigration Advisory Committee, Diana advocates for the needs of international students through regular communication with Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship of Canada (IRCC). With the passion for international students, Diana has dedicated 20 years of her career to international students in Canada. She believes in collaborative support through effective international student connection and community partnerships.

 

Christine Omuodo

International Student Program Facilitator

Christine Omuodo is the International Student Program Facilitator at York International responsible for developing and delivering key programs and services primarily for international students that enhance their experiences during their time at York. She also works closely with on and off campus partners to provide various international student support services. As a former international student originally from Kenya, she has worked with international students in various capacities and is excited about connecting students to the York University community while supporting their transition and success at the University. She enjoys the energy that students bring to the various programs and always looks forward to being involved with the global community.

 

Kelly Chen

International Student Program Assistant

Kelly is the International Student Program Assistant at York International. Through her various experiences working at different departments on campus, she is passionate about helping students connect with other international students. Her goal is to ensure international students are engaged on campus and that they are provided with the services and resources to be successful. She leads a group of student leaders called Global Liaisons to host online information sessions and social events throughout the school year, connecting students from all around the world. Kelly completed her undergrad studies at York University. During her time here, she gained knowledge and experiences that she hopes to pass on to international students at York to make their transition easier. Kelly speaks Mandarin, French and Cantonese and she looks forward to meeting you. Lastly, she encourages you to ask for help when needed!

 

Carol Tang

Immigration Specialist

Carol Tang, the Immigration Specialist at York International, was born in Macau and speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin. Upon graduation from the University of Waterloo as an international student, Carol set foot in the immigration consulting field. With more than 10 years of experience in professional immigration consulting, she joined York University in 2015 as the first Immigration Specialist serving the York Community. Carol’s major role at York International includes providing updated and accurate immigration information to international students via advising and workshops, supporting the success in transition for new international students, promoting academic research by assisting faculties across campus in inviting scholars and researchers. As a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, Carol is committed to educating and promoting the immigration compliance of international students and scholars by working closely with the ISSS team and various departments.

 

Sumanpreet Kaur

UHIP Administrator

Sumanpreet Kaur is the UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan) Administrator at York International. Her role is to essentially ensure all eligible international and exchange students at York University have access to basic medical care in Ontario by providing them with basic health insurance. She works with various stakeholders to work towards this and also provides UHIP support to students on an individual basis. As a first generation immigrant to Canada, she relates to international students with regards to the challenges they face in a new country. She is always excited to meet international students and hear the stories of their journey and experience in Canada.
