Global Affairs Scholarships

The Global Affairs Scholarship program consists of four scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students and university staff and faculty, who are coming from specific countries to study at York University. Applicants must submit the required documentation to York International electronically, via the links provided below.

Interested parties must first submit their application, complete with all supporting documentation to York International, who then nominates eligible applicants to Global Affairs Canada. The two-part application process for students is outlined below.

  1. Submit a Global Affairs Canada Scholarship application,  including the Privacy Notice Statement available by clicking here.
  2. Submit a York International Incoming Exchange Application

 NOTE: Exchange agreement balances will be taken into consideration when determining if a nomination can be submitted to Global Affairs Canada.

For graduate candidates who are interested in research only, an Exchange Partnership Agreement with York University, is not required, however, please email exchange@yorku.ca for additional information.

Deadline for both applications - April 18, 2017 4:00 pm

Successful applicants should be aware that scholarship funds will be distributed through York University and may take 6 - 8 weeks to process after arrival in Toronto.

Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP)
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students from already established exchange partners.
  • Graduate students from universities who are not currently exchange partners may apply to participate in research projects only.
The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarships provide students and researchers from Latin America and the Caribbean with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.
Canada-Caribbean Community Leadership Scholarship Program (CARICOM)
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students from already established exchange partners may apply.
  • Graduate Students from universities who are not currently exchange partners may apply to participate in research projects only.
The Canada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarships Program provides students and researchers from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.
Canada-Chile Leadership Exchange Scholarship
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students from already established exchange partners may apply.
  • Graduate students from universities who are not currently exchange partners may apply to participate in research projects only.
Canada-Chile Leadership Exchange Scholarships provide students and researchers from Chile with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.
Canada-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Faculty Leadership Program
  • Staff and faculty form already established exchange partners may apply.
  • NOTE: Successful applicants must apply for a Canadian Social Insurance Number or International Taxation Number in order to receive Global Affairs funds. More information on this requirement will be provided to successful applicants by York International.
The Canada-CARICOM Faculty Leadership Program provides faculty or international liaison officers/managers from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) with short-term exchange opportunities for professional development, graduate study or research at Canadian postsecondary institutions.
