For more than a decade and during the Summer, Las Nubes Project has offered a field course on Tropical Conservation and Sustainability in Costa Rica. The success of this course led to the creation of the Semester Abroad.

In April 2016 York University's Faculty of Environmental Studies opened the Lillian Meighen Wright Centre, the landmark building of York's EcoCampus, the new home of the Las Nubes Project and headquarters of the Semester Abroad program in Environmental Studies The Faculty of Environmental Studies has created the Las Nubes Project which aims to contribute to community well-being in ways that are compatible and conducive to environmental conservation. Las Nubes does this through faculty and student research, environmental education, and through community engagement initiatives.

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics (LAPS) offers courses in Chinese (Mandarin) language, literature, culture and history. China has always been one of the three main countries of focus for the East Asian Studies interdisciplinary degree program, created in 1971.

The Schulich School of Business continues to be engaged in India through its activities at the Schulich Hyderabad Campus. Schulich offers the first year of its MBA program at its India campus in Hyderabad. The program is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics (LAPS) offers courses in Hindi-Urdu language and South Asian literature and culture.

The York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR) counts many affiliates who conduct research related to India and the Centre has organized many conferences related to India.

The Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies is Canada's first interdisciplinary research centre in Jewish Studies. It brings together a vibrant community of scholars and teachers to promote cutting-edge research in Jewish Studies including the study of the texts, histories, and cultures of the Jewish people, which developed alongside and within Western and non-Western civilizations.
